My thesis, "Who Are We? Where Are We Going?" is a web archive of interviews intended to serve as a time capsule for me and my peers. The project was originally meant to analyze our path as artists and designers, as we were preparing for our transition out of Pratt Institute. What brought us to this point? What influenced us in our coming-of-age? How have we changed? What are we doing, making? Who do we want to be?
With the changes brought about by COVID-19, not only did the narrative of our (and everyone’s) lives shift, but so did the function of this archive. I was now documenting two transitions: one expected, and one not. The pandemic itself emerged as a character in this interview series I was conducting, changing our present and projections of the future drastically, and serving as a marker for what increasingly feels like a Before and an After.
